Bridge Mahjong
Bridge Mahjong has four square towers, two at each end, joined by a long deck. The deck is three rows deep, sixteen tiles across and two tiles high.
The towers are easy. The deck is not. Its rows are the longest of any layout on the site, so the middle of the bridge stays locked until you have worked a long way in from the ends.
How to play
The rules are the same on every layout. Click two free tiles with the same face to remove them. A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Any flower matches any flower, and any season matches any season. Clear all 72 pairs to win. The how to play guide has pictures.
How the Bridge layout is built
Each tower is two tiles wide, two rows deep and three tiles high. The deck runs the full width between them.
Tips for Bridge Mahjong
- Use the towers early. Their top tiles are free from the start and they do not block the deck.
- Attack the deck from both ends together. Working from one end only takes twice as long to reach the middle.
- Take top-layer deck tiles before bottom-layer ones where you can. A bottom tile is no use until the tile on top of it has gone.

How we rate difficulty. We had the computer play 200 games on each layout, picking moves the same way our Hint button does. On Bridge it cleared the board without a shuffle in about 35% of games. That is harder than the classic Turtle, which comes in at about 50%. People who plan ahead do better than that, but the order of the layouts stays much the same.
